Today I cracked open my first bottle from CraftBeerClub.com Christmas present, Chocolate Porter from @riverhorsebrewing in Ewing, NJ. This tasty treat is a brewed with dark roasted malts, Madagascar Vanilla beans and a pound of chocolate per barrel . The result is a 6.5% ABV decadent brew with plenty of chocolate taste and notes of vanilla to accentuate the flavor rather nicely.

Many know that the ancient Egyptians are the first to have brewed beer 🙏. However, did you know that their Beer God was represented in their hieroglyphics as a hippo? It represented sustenance and fertility. Sustenance because it was a date flavored malt bomb and fertility, well… 🦛 The name hippopotamus is a Greek word that literally translates to English as ‘river horse’. So this brewery’s name celebrates a bit of brewing history.
