On February 23, I will be teaching part 1 of an Introduction to WordPress class in for the Girl Develop It – Wilmington chapter.
Have you been wanting to learn how to setup your own WordPress blog or website? This is a great way to take that first step! In the class we will cover:
- What is WordPress and why use it?
- What is the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org
- How to choose a web host
- How to setup a WordPress site
- How to secure your site from hackers and malicous attacks
You don’t have to be female to attend the class or join the GDI Meetup (they are women inclusive not women-only), but you do need to understand and follow their code of conduct.
Girl Develop It is a nonprofit organization that exists to provide affordable and accessible programs to women (18+) who want to learn software and web development through in-person, hands-on instruction.
Our vision is to create a network of empowered women who feel confident in their abilities to code and build web and mobile applications. By teaching women across the country from diverse backgrounds to learn software development, we can help women improve their careers, gain confidence in their everyday lives, and change our local tech communities for the better.
If you already have a WordPress site and are more interested in learning about how to use it, you’ll probably want to come to Part 2 of the class which will be the following week. I won’t be the one teaching Part 2 but you still should attend if that fits you!
