So this weekend, I upgraded all of my client and my own sites to the latest WordPress release, 4.0 “Benny”. I have been testing out the beta and release candidate versions on my local development environment for the past few weeks and have found it to be rather stable and includes some great new features.
Media Library Grid View
There is a beautiful new grid view to the media library to help you find the image or other media you are looking for.
Embedded Videos Are Visible & Functional in Content Editor
Have you ever been frustrated that you cannot see or work with your embedded media while editing your post or page? The new editor solves this so you can can a real look at your content without having to publish or preview it first.
Plugin Search More Visual
Finding a plugin from the WordPress.org repository is much more visual and helpful as you no longer have to leave your site to read reviews and details about the plugin.
Content Editing Easier
No longer do you need to scroll up and down to find the toolbar to format your text. The toolbar is now “sticky” and stays put even if you have long form content to work with. See it in action by clicking the image below.

And in honor of Benny Goodman, whom the 4.0 release was named after, enjoy this wonderful piece.
