This past week brought the added bonus of Halloween. While my best beer wasn’t a typical beer for the season it was one that can be enjoyed anytime. As I do need to clean out my beer fridge prior to moving in a couple weeks, I decided it was a good time to finish the last of a what was a four-pack of 120 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head.
At 16.5% ABV, this one is meant for sipping!
My daughter, Madeline, gave me the 4-pack as a birthday present in 2019. As the bottle says, it ages well, so I had one that year, the 2nd in 2020, and the 3rd and 4th this year. I would have saved #4 for 2022 but I didn’t want to risk the bottle not surviving the cross-country move; that would be criminal.
Each year is unique but normally in the 15-18% range and extremely hoppy making it a Holy Grail for hopheads. The annual uniqueness and ability to be aged for multiple years also lends this beer to be tried in vertical tasting flights. I have not had that opportunity but would love to try it one day!
